Hi friends,
I was out at the bus stop this morning with Rush snug up against me in my Baby K’tan – the hip carry, of course – thinking about how grateful I am for everything in my life. Do you ever have those moments? I was just standing in the warm sunshine, neighbor kids playing all around, a house that more than shelters us, a pantry and refrigerator full of food, a husband that adores me and supports me in every way possible + also the greatest father to our children, really exciting opportunities with work ahead, plans to go grab coffee and sit outside with my mom… the list could go on. There was just something about that warm moment that made me think: It just keeps getting better.
Another thing I am grateful for is Baby K’tan inviting me to participate in their ambassador program. I was already an avid fan of the carrier, and this partnership has allowed me to spread that message to other babywearing mamas, too. I love to educate on the Baby K’tan carriers, because they have been so good for me, so I want to showcase the options available.
My Baby K’tan Baby Carriers
I have three different Baby K’tan carriers: the Original, the Breeze and the Active. Each are made of a different material, but each can be worn with all of the holds. They are simply made of different fabrics and function the same.
In order of the fabric pictured above:
- The Active: This is a performance fabric that wicks away heat and moisture. It has UVA and UVB protection. Think of this like an athletic tank top you may purchase!
- The Original: This is a 100% all natural cotton wrap. It comes in a variety of colors and some patterns, such as my striped one! It’s very soft and cozy. (middle)
- The Breeze: This is also a cotton wrap but is half mesh knit and half jersey knit. The mesh knit portion can be used in the front or back and gives some “breathing room” to either your back or your baby.
My Favorite + Feedback
- This carrier is a wrap that doesn’t need to be wrapped. It simply wears like a t-shirt and you simply cannot beat the comfort or convenience of that! 🙌🏼
- I used this when my babies were teeny tiny newborns and am still using today, as Rush is now 10 months old. It works well with all sizes and snugs + stretches according to how you wear it!
- Each of the fabric options machine wash and dry nicely.
- Make sure you size yourself on the BK Sizing Chart for the appropriate fit, but know that even if it’s snug at first, they will stretch out a bit with use.
- My Active carrier does seem to fit larger than the others, but that may just be due to the fact that the fabric is so much lighter than the others.
- My favorite is still the Original carrier. I love the soft fabric and don’t find it too warm, even in the summer.
- Since I’ve been often hip holding, the mesh of the Breeze doesn’t have too much of an opportunity to make the experience cooler, but overall there is less fabric on my body and less on baby’s body, so it’s been a great compromise for summer.
This is our Active carrier and Rush was all smiles for Katie Bingen Photography!
If you missed it, I shared that the hip carry saved me this summer since I have such a busy, busy boy on my hands. I had some questions over on Instagram about the hold, so I have a little video that I’m going to put up over on IGTV soon showing how we manage. ☺️
I’m hoping we can get back to some snug holds this fall, but we’ll see. Rush may be walking before we know it and really never sits still. Don’t mind me though as I keep him close on me for as long as I possibly can. Babywearing is such a blessing!
Stay tuned over on Instagram in the coming weeks: I’ll be giving away a Baby K’tan Carrier there. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the product, the people who work for BK and for the experience to sponsor this sharing of information. And about the handsome little man who I get to carry! (All. The. Feels.)
Hope you’re all having a great week!
x,
Lisa
