You guys! I discovered a mecca of activewear at Forever 21 and instantly fell in love for two reasons: 1. Style & 2. Price. I was a little skeptical at first because the price was almost too good to be true, but after one try, I think I am hooked. The lovely sales associate in store said she owns just about everything and promised I would soon be the same way. I think she was right.
I love having options when I’m going to workout, and in case you didn’t know, I think that new workout attire adds a pep in my step. Just check out what I’ve already mentioned about my running goals and fitness motivation. I also love sharing my finds, because who doesn’t want to spread the news of a good deal or find a solid recommendation?
Here’s what I purchased:
Caged sports bra ($14.90): Yes, you read that right: less than $15. I love the heathered gray color and of course, the back detail is what sold me. I would describe this as medium impact. I did run in it and it felt a-okay, though sometimes I do prefer a bit more support for longer distances or lots of jumping. {Particularly when I’m a nursing momma.} It does also come in black (here).
Active capri leggings ($17.90): For less than $20, I had to try a pair! I went with this color because I was looking to replace a staple gray capri in my workout wardrobe that is getting to the end of its lifeline, and well, they match. ? I would consider these a midrise {perfect for me!} and they have a good stretch to them. This capri was super comfortable for my workout and so I’d love to get more colors. If you’re interested in the long pants version, you can find those here.
Note: I am 5’6” on a relatively thin frame and am wearing a small in both. Both items fit true to size and have a good amount of elasticity to them.
On my wishlist are these dreamy black active capri leggings with calf detail. I will most definitely be ordering these soon as there is a low quantity warning on the website.
I’ve been slowly and carefully increasing the intensity of my workouts again this week after taking some down time to recover from a hip injury and subsequent radiating pain. I’ve been seeing a Physical Therapist for several weeks now and am finally starting to feel better, but want to take it slow in the recovery process. I’m working on making the determination if I can still run the North Face Trail Half I signed up for (to take place in September), or if my body just won’t be able to do it. Injuries are no joke and even though I typically like to push my body and strive to get stronger and in better shape, a friend recently had the right way of phrasing it for me: Could do and should do are two different ways of looking at it.
How do you handle injuries and fitness goals? Do you give yourself enough time to recover? Have you had to pass up a goal in order to keep yourself healthy?
I’ll keep everyone updated on my own recovery and decisions to race. In the meantime, have a happy, healthy weekend everyone!
XO
