My sense of style is something I feel I’m forever working on. Most of the time I think I’m a little vanilla when it comes to what I wear, but I’ve been taking a few more risks lately — nothing crazy, just as in buying a couple of items that are more on trend as opposed to classic. And, I kind of like it.
The catch for me is that I don’t have an extraordinary clothing budget. I can’t just go out and buy a new wardrobe for each season, rather I build upon what I have and prioritize what I will spend on. Getting a few trendier pieces lets me spice my daily look up a little — without breaking the bank.
I’ve found that Old Navy actually has a really great selection that fits our family budget. Trendy and budget friendly? I had to give it a try. At first, I always shopped in store because I’m a stickler for how things fit. After a while of learning the shape and sizing of the brand, I feel more comfortable ordering online occasionally and because sometimes there are actually better prices online than in the store! Trust me — I’ve learned! I’ve also learned that I think the sizes generally run a little large, so I’m sharing that as a public service announcement. (PS – I order lots of my kids clothes from Old Navy too!)
As for the Spring items, THESE are what I think you should shop! If you want to step up your style game this Spring and not spend a fortune, try any of these pieces from Old Navy.
Here’s what I think:
- My wardrobe is pretty neutral, which I love and prefer. But, I want to add a pop of color with the yellow floral bell sleeved tunic.
- I would definitely wear a white tee under the gray midi dress to make it even more on trend for the season (plus Spring in Wisconsin is just not that warm).
- I have a pair of Old Navy distressed jeans and I LOVE them. I purchased them for less than $30 and wear them quite often. I always get asked where they are from because I think a pair of jeans that doesn’t look like what everyone else is wearing changes up your outfit!
- Tuck your tunic shirts in! It gives it such a fresh new look.
- The suede-knit moto jacket will be so versatile for the season. It comes in multiple colors but the creme caramel is my favorite. (The fennel seed is a close second.)
- If you really want to try something trendy, get the jumpsuit! Thankfully this one has buttons in the front so it’s still nursing friendly for me. ?
- Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize. I always find adding accessories to be the most affordable way I can alter my wardrobe. I’m a little nervous but a little excited to try the neckerchief. And I’m always up for a new pair of sunnies.
You know how people say you may be more excited to workout if you have new workout clothes? I think that you can also feel more excited or pretty or vibrant if you have a few new stylish pieces for everyday wear too.
I’m going to be challenging myself to not just get basics for Spring, but rather step up my style game a bit and I hope you will too.
Happy shopping (without over spending)!
