I love giving gifts. If you haven’t noticed already, {ahem, days of giving series} I think gifting is a way to show love and inspire beautiful things in life. I think gifts can be so personal and meaningful, and I love to watch the joy on someone’s face when they open a gift that they absolutely adore. I often like to give themed gifts or give items that are cute and practical, yet something the person wouldn’t normally buy for themselves. I usually have so many ideas on what to get a person that I have a hard time deciding, but for whatever reason, it’s not my forte to think of the *p e r f e c t* gift for my husband.
In an effort to make that easier this year, I began to think about what is important to us, which sparked an idea. At the beginning of 2016 we made a resolution to go out on a solo date once a month and as we have been reflecting on our last year + planning for 2017, we both agree that those date nights are a very memorable part of the year and cherished by both of us. They are something we want to have the capacity to do more of. In honor of this, I’ve decided I’m going to give my husband the gift of time this Christmas. Spending time together is something that makes us both happy. We appreciate the attention we can give each other and the capacity for better listening (sans children around); we keep our relationship alive and exciting through nurturing each other with time.
But, here I am with my gift giving tendencies and desire to be themed and organized, so of course I want to put a creative spin on this gift of time. That’s why I was thrilled when JORD approached me for a collaboration. It was like the answer to my prayers. This absolutely beautiful JORD Wood Watch is the symbol for the time I am going to gift my husband this Christmas.
It is such a unique watch that fits his style perfectly. It can be dressed up or dressed down, and I know it’s an ageless piece – practical for everyday use – so he will have it forever. This particular watch for Mark is the Fieldcrest Dark Sandalwood, but it was so hard to pick because there are so many great options!
“The value of a watch is not in being able to tell how much time has passed, but in being aware of the need to make that time count. Moments are bigger than minutes and your watch should tell more time time.” – JORD Wood Watches
We are going to make our time count through experiential living, which is the second component of this gift to Mark: the actual time. Mark and I have several activities that we like to do together + I know there are activities that he loves and I would gladly do with him so we can enjoy one another. Therefore, I’ve put together a little list of components of this gift of time in hopes it sparks some interest in you to also arrange this for your spouse too.
Gendarme Cologne: To me, a nice cologne screams “date night” in the best way. I like getting a little dressed up and making our date nights feel special, so this is the perfect gift for a husband to encourage those romantic nights out.
Muk Luks Winter Gear: As we are into Wisconsin’s winter full force now, I’ve realized that we just need to embrace it. I’d love to bundle up with my husband and head out to go ice skating, sledding, take a winter walk to see the lights downtown or even take a carriage ride. What better way to stay close than to actually have to huddle together to stay warm.
Golf Key Chain: Mark enjoys golfing and has wanted to golf more for the past couple of summers now, but what can I say, life is busy with little ones. I do like to golf as well {though majorly need lessons}, so this key chain would be a fun way to symbolize the time we could spend together on this activity.
Men’s Pajama Bottoms: Sometimes our date nights are just nights at home – and we love it. {Homebodies!} Whether you can’t find a babysitter, don’t want to brave the cold or are trying to save some money, staying in can still offer a great opportunity to spend time together. We enjoy playing cards, catching up on television shows and drinking wine.
Perry Ellis Men’s Toiletry and Travel Kit: Mark has been encouraging us to get a night away for ourselves sometime this winter. I think this is a great gift if this is the time you’d like to give your spouse. It’s handsome and practical!
Men’s Nike Running Shoes: We used to run more races as a couple, or even just ran more together in general, so gifting a nice pair of running shoes is really at the core of who we are as a couple. Making a commitment to do more of this would be a great way to spend time together in 2017!
Of course there are a variety of ways to give time to your spouse, and they don’t all have to cost money. I hope that you’ll consider giving your spouse the dedication of your time this year too – in any way. And, there’s exciting news for those who want to do this! JORD has extended a $75 Giveaway for In Wild Hearts readers, so you could gift your husband a watch too! Plus everyone who enters will automatically be emailed a $25 shop credit. Enter the giveaway here before December 25 at 11:59 PM. I have several gift cards that I’d be happy to give out to the first five people who comment below as well.

Love this– both the watch and spending more time with husbands! It can so easily get lost with smaller kids but is so very important. 🙂
