Happy (belated) Thanksgiving to all of you — and Happy Black Friday! You’ll find me and my family staying out of the stores + gathering together for a Post-Thanksgiving Nacho Bar today. An annual tradition that we absolutely love! While we could get together and eat yet another turkey dinner, for those of us who travel to multiple meals, we decided to spice things up a bit and have never turned back. {Give me all the chips & guacamole.}
Now on to the good stuff: Online Shopping.
Mark and I do our best to be financially responsible. We operate on a budget and try our hardest to save money wherever and whenever we can. We do our fair share of online shopping because, let’s face it, with little kids it’s sometimes a necessity to stay out of the stores. It is convenient and it also allows us to easily price shop. Plus, I’ve actually found that my shopping online is a money-saving-activity in itself. i.e. no dollar aisle or clearance end caps at Target. ? My sister shops online a lot too and a while back she told me about Ebates – a website that you use as a portal to shop anywhere online and they give you CASH to do so. I told her I already had an account but wasn’t using it. She told me how foolish I was for not using it because she gets checks back regularly.
I looked back into it, showed Mark and the rest is history. We now shop online for necessities, or when items are on sale, or whenever, but we also get cash back just by shopping through our Ebates account. For example, as I’m looking now, Macy’s is offering 10% cash back, Nike is at 9%, Old Navy is at 8%, Walmart is at 7% and Nordstrom is at 6% cash back. It’s so simple and so easy and who would turn down any extra cash? I will admit it is a new habit to get into – to log in to your Ebates account before shopping online – but once you make the switch, you’ll be happy you did.

I totally have an Ebates account too and NEVER use it (hangs head)…I literally just spent a few hundred dollars online too…Darn! I wish there was a way to go back and submit my order to get the cash back – wouldn’t that be great?! Sometimes mom-brain just gets in the way of rational-shopper-brain…Here’s to next time!
